Claude Code for business: what it is, what it does and how to use it

Claude Code is Anthropic’s agentic coding tool: an assistant that works directly on a project’s codebase, understands it, proposes changes, applies them, runs tests and explains what it did. It is not just another autocomplete: it is a development partner able to complete whole tasks from a plain-language instruction.

What Claude Code is

Claude Code is a tool built by Anthropic that brings Claude into a developer’s working environment: the terminal, the code editor (such as VS Code or JetBrains), the desktop app or the browser. From there it can:

• Read and understand an entire project, even one with thousands of files, to answer questions about how it works.
• Write and edit code across several files at once to implement a feature or fix a bug.
• Run commands and tests to check that what it built works.
• Work with Git: stage changes, write commit messages and open review requests.
• Connect to other tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), such as task managers, databases or internal documentation.

The key point is that the developer stays in charge: Claude Code asks for permission before sensitive actions, and everything it does is visible for review.

What Claude Code is for in a company

Although the name suggests it is only for developers, the impact reaches the whole company because it shortens the timeline of any software project.

1. Build applications and integrations faster

Internal tools, management dashboards, customer portals or integrations between the ERP and the CRM. What used to take weeks can have a first working version in days, leaving more time for design, testing and review. This is what we apply in our AI software development service.

Frequently asked questions about Claude Code

Does Claude Code replace developers?

No. It multiplies what a good team can do, but architecture decisions, review and accountability for the result remain human.

Is it safe to use with my company’s code?

Yes, when configured properly: minimum permissions, change review and commercial plans, under which Anthropic does not use customer data to train its models by default.

Is it useful for non-tech companies?

Yes. Industrial and service companies are the ones that gain the most, because they can afford custom tools and automations that used to be out of reach.
