Want ARTIC to fix it for you?
Our web team goes through this report with you, prioritises what most affects your users and your legal compliance and fixes it in the code, not with patches. And we add what a tool cannot see: manual testing with screen readers and keyboard.

- Plan prioritised by impact and legal risk

What this audit cannot see (and ARTIC does)
Automated tools detect 30–40% of accessibility issues. The rest only shows up when the site is used the way people with disabilities use it.
Real screen-reader navigation
We go through the site with NVDA and VoiceOver to check it makes sense and works.
Full keyboard use
Menus, modals, forms and carts: everything must open, work and close without a mouse.
Alt text quality
A tool knows whether alt exists; a person knows whether it describes the image well.
Error messages and forms
Errors must be announced, understood and fixable.
Documents and PDFs
Downloads are covered by the rules too.
Every page and process
This audit looks at the URL you enter. In a project we review every key journey (contact, checkout, sign-up).
The European Accessibility Act is now in force
Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act applies across the EU. It requires many businesses selling products or services to consumers online, such as e-commerce, banking or transport, to make their websites and apps accessible. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt.
The technical reference is the European standard EN 301 549, which incorporates WCAG 2.1 level AA. This audit already applies WCAG 2.2, the latest version, which adds criteria such as minimum touch target size.
Beyond the law, an accessible website reaches more customers: millions of Europeans live with a disability, and an ageing population uses the internet more every year.
What the audit checks: all 50 points
Grouped by the four WCAG principles plus a legal compliance block. Contrast, touch targets and rendered ARIA are measured by Google PageSpeed Insights; the rest by our server on the site's HTML and CSS.

Accessibility audit FAQs
What is a web accessibility audit?
It checks whether people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities can use your site: screen readers, keyboard navigation, contrast, forms, videos… It is measured against WCAG, the international standard European rules are based on.
Is my company required to have an accessible website?
Since June 2025, the European Accessibility Act requires many businesses selling products or services online to consumers (e-commerce, banking, transport, telecoms…) to comply. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt, and the public sector has had its own rules since 2018. If you are unsure about your case, check with a legal adviser.
Does this audit certify that my site complies?
No. No automated tool can certify compliance: they detect 30–40% of issues. This audit is a reliable first diagnosis; full compliance requires manual testing with assistive technologies.
Do accessibility plugins or widgets work?
Overlays (accessiBe, UserWay and similar) add a button with display options but do not fix the code. The accessibility community advises against them and they do not guarantee legal compliance.
What is WCAG 2.2 AA?
The W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) organise requirements into three levels: A, AA and AAA. Level AA is what European rules require. Version 2.2, published in 2023, adds criteria on visible focus, touch targets and authentication.
What do you do with the URL I analyse?
We only use it to run the audit. We keep the result for 24 hours so the analysis is not repeated if you come back. We do not store personal data unless you fill in the form.
